Few places, so accessible to metropolitan visitors, offer such rewarding opportunities for the observation, quiet contemplation and enjoyment of nature as Kittatinny Valley State Park, in Andover Township, Sussex County. A pleasant hike along its miles of rail trails opens the significant mineral and transportation heritage of the Highlands and Kittatinny Valley to explore. Kittatinny Valley State Park preserves a rock-ribbed hemlock and Hardwood forest, set amidst more than 1,400 acres of fields, freshwater wetlands, glacial lakes, and vernal pools In this scenic spur of the Great Appalachian Valley. The park is home to Aeroflex-Andover Airport.

Important Information

Pets are NOT permitted in any camping facilities.

Alcoholic Beverages are NOT permitted in any New Jersey State Park Service Area.

Black bears are present in New Jersey. During your stay at the park, all coolers and food-related items must be stored in the trunk of your vehicle at all times. Garbage should be promptly removed from your campsite and put in the appropriate trash receptacle.

Minimum Age – camping facilities and sites must be reserved by at least 1 person 18 years of age or older, who shall occupy and be responsible for the facility or site during the rental period.

Firewood is not furnished at campsites but can be purchased at the office during business hours from 9am to 4pm.

Visitors are allowed at camping facilities between the hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm.

Quiet hours are observed between 10:00pm – 6:00am.

Group campsites may be reserved for a minimum of 1 night up to a 14 night maximum length of stay.

If a camper arrives during office hours, he or she must check in at the main office. If the campers arrive after office hours, they must check in the next morning.

Mini-golf, bowling, movie theatre, antiquing, and Wild West City. Swartswood State Park, Hopatcong, and Stephen State Park. Historic Waterloo Village

Fishing, canoeing, and kayaking on Lake Aeroflex, which covers 117 acres. This is the deepest,natural lake in the State of New Jersey. It is stocked with trout on a regular basis. Gardener"s Pond, White"s Pond, and Twin Lakes are smaller and shallower lakes (only walk in access). Hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding is available on the Sussex Branch and Paulinskill Valley Trail. Some trails are also wheelchair accessible. Cross Country skiing, snowshoeing, and dog sledding are available seasonally. Various Interpretive programs, and hunting in designated areas. Picnicking. 4 Group Sites
